The Overview I

Lewis Hamilton took an electrifying victory in the Austrian Grand Prix after a last lap clash with his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

Even though he started sixth, Rosberg led Hamilton for the majority of the race due to an altered tire strategy and two slower Hamilton pit stops. However, in the final three laps, Hamilton closed on his teammate as Rosberg started lap 71. Rosberg missed his apex at Turn 1, losing his momentum that allowed Hamilton to put himself in Rosberg’s draft heading toward Turn 2. Hamilton tried to slingshot around the outside of Rosberg as they closed on the uphill Turn 2. Both driver’s held their braking to the last millisecond, with Rosberg seeming to cover the inside line as Hamilton clung to the outside edge of the track.
