The “Verstormin” Factor

Max Verstappen turned in another world class drive to capture second place, again holding off Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen in the final stages after a 56-lap stint on soft tyres, much the same as his maiden win in Spain, where he resisted Raikkonen’s attacks over the last 20 laps. His pace was forceful from the first lap, as he stormed from 8th on the grid to fifth by the seventh lap. Pitting on lap 18, he then gave a race-long demonstration of world champion-level tire management. He’s still just 18-years old.

The Points Motherload

With his victory, Lewis Hamilton became the first Formula 1 driver to surpass 2,000 career F1 points and in the process claimed the 250th victory for British F1 drivers.
