The Challenge
The instant the checkered flag waved in Spielberg, hundreds of extra labourers began the frantic 36-hour dismantling of every F1 team’s pit, engineering support and hospitality rigs for the dash to next week’s British Grand Prix, almost 1,000 miles and a Channel crossing away. The task has the look of unsurmountable to it. For the first time, European commercial driving regulations will require extra drivers to triple team the drive; in McLaren’s case, that means 60 drivers. Austria was the start of 6 races in 8 weeks. At 21 races, the 2016 season is the longest F1 in history.
Now on to Silverstone.
