The Orders To Come

Mercedes team principle Toto Wolff describes the Mercedes-AMG brain trust as a pack of petrol heads, anxious to let their team drivers fight it out on the track instead of locked in place by teams orders. However, wth equal cars, equally talented driver’s and equal performances in the best cars on the grid, it is logical that these aggressive gentlemen will end up at the same place on the track at the same time, losing a sure 1-2 finish as in Spain and now Austria. Something has to give. Unfortunately, until now, it’s usually a Mercedes’ front wing or suspension arm. That will change going forward. Team rules will make for more boring races, but better Mercedes marketing headlines. Pity.
