Sleek Turntable Aesthetics
RYTM Record Player by Jorge Paez

When record player manufacturers showcase their products, the key selling points typically revolve around sound quality and turntable functionality, with less emphasis on aesthetics. However, industrial designer Jorge Paez has introduced an exceptional record player concept that places a strong emphasis on sleek, modern design.

Dubbed RYTM, Paez characterizes it as a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Braun SK4/1 turntable designed by Dieter Rams in 1957. RYTM mirrors the iconic record player’s sharp lines, architectural slats, and a sense of simplicity. The unique vertical slat arrangement serves not only for aesthetic reasons but also incorporates a red power switch and a silver speed selector. Interestingly, one of the slats can be lifted to function as the tonearm — a clever method of maintaining a tidy presentation.

The potential for the RYTM concept to enter production remains uncertain. In addition to this, Paez has envisioned a robotic arm capable of lifting the tone arm and placing the vinyl on the deck. Imagine returning home to this impressive record player setup, providing a delightful way to unwind at the end of the day.
