Braun limited edition watches for Hodinkee

Braun may primarily be known as a manufacturer of electric shavers and household electronics, however, this German brand also produces stylish products across a wider range, including audio players and timepieces. In collaboration with the New York City-based watch website Hodinkee, Braun has recently launched two limited edition watches, paying homage to the brand’s lesser-known history.

The collaborative watches take inspiration from Braun’s AW10 and AW50 models – introduced in 1989 and 1991 respectively, while maintaining the minimalistic ethos the brand has been renowned for since its inception. Both watches feature a 40 mm diameter bead-blasted stainless steel case. Within, a subtle grey dial hosts a pair of slim, lume-filled black hands for indicating hours and minutes, accompanied by a date window accented with red at 3 o’clock. Eschewing numeral marks for a simpler aesthetic, each dial is bordered by a white minutes track.

What sets the two models apart is the presentation of the seconds hand. The BN0279 Centre Seconds watch boasts an ultra-slim black seconds hand with a yellow tip, while the BN0279 Sub-Seconds watch showcases a sub-dial with white indexes and a yellow hand positioned at 6 o’clock. Both watches are powered by the same Swiss-made ETA 2892A2 automatic calibre, offering a 42-hour power reserve and 50-metre water resistance. Completing the understated look is a sleek black rubber strap. The two Hodinkee × Braun watches are limited to only 100 units each and are priced at US$ 950.
