The Overview III

Silverstone had begun to dry owing to excellent drainage and the constant Midland’s winds. The teams were eying each other, waiting for the best moment to change from intermediates to drys, even as a majority of the midfield experienced harrowing off track excursions.

Sebastian Vettel had started in 11th, due to a five-place grid demotion for changing his gearbox damaged in FP3. He was now moving forward and initiated the change for dry tyres, with the top three holding the same order after they moved to slicks.

Hamilton and Verstappen both spun on the same puddle at Abbey on lap 29 allowing the top three to close to within five seconds. Behind them, Raikkonen, Perez, and Sainz all spun at the same spot but survived.
