Honouring Tradition
Citizen 100th Anniversary Special Edition Pocket Watch

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary since the launch of its inaugural timepiece, Citizen Watch has unveiled a special limited edition hand-wound pocket watch set to debut in Autumn/Winter 2024.

This project harks back to the brand’s pivotal moment in 1924 when it introduced its very first timepiece in the form of a pocket watch. While honouring the original design with its layout featuring Arabic numerals and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, contemporary technology takes centre stage in most aspects of the design. For instance, the captivating pattern adorning the dial is meticulously crafted using electroforming, clear coating, and polishing techniques, artfully invoking the imagery of snowfall accumulating over time.

Crafted from a lightweight titanium alloy, the 43.5 mm diameter case houses the Cal.0270 hand-wound movement, specially engineered for this pocket watch. Boasting a power reserve of approximately 55 hours when fully wound and featuring a stop-second function, this movement ensures precision timekeeping with an accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day. The elegant curves of the movement and the distinctive waves of the Côtes de Genève finish can be admired through the transparent case back, enhancing its allure.

Each pocket watch is accompanied by a pure Japanese silk braided cord, custom-made by Domyo and dyed in a unique indigo charcoal hue. Limited to just 100 units, every pocket watch is individually numbered and engraved on the case, priced at US$ 9,000.
