Bringing Heritage to the EV Era
BMW Vision Neue Klasse X Concept

The Vision concepts from BMW embody the brand’s outlook on electric vehicles in the near future. Last year’s striking Vision Neue Klasse concept paid homage to the classic Neue Klasse range of the 1960s, reimagining it for the EV era. Now, BMW unveils the Vision Neue Klasse X, extending the essence of the Neue Klasse into the realm of SUVs.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X introduces a streamlined design language by blending the two-box design of BMW X models with elements inspired by the Neue Klasse era. Built on a fully electric architecture, it offers heightened ground clearance, resulting in a spacious interior characterized by elongated wheelbases and abundant natural light streaming through expansive windows and a panoramic glass roof. The exterior showcases vertically aligned LED lights and a redesigned BMW kidney grille, evoking a commanding presence. At the rear, dynamic, athletic lines are accentuated by 3D-printed elements, while flush glass surfaces and “Coral Silver” paint contribute to its sense of weightlessness.

BMW is rolling out a new sixth-generation lithium-ion battery, developed in-house, boasting a volumetric energy density over 20% higher than its predecessors. Coupled with the transition to an 800-V system, this technological leap promises a 30% increase in charging speed, enabling a 300 km range to be achieved in just ten minutes.

In line with the company’s commitment to sustainability, the interior features a completely plant-based material called “Verdana.” Additionally, maritime plastics sourced from discarded fishing nets, along with other recycled materials, are utilized throughout the cabin. The Central Display, BMW Panoramic Vision, and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant offer seamless interfaces for human-car interaction, featuring intuitive touch controls and advanced voice commands.

Mirroring its sedan counterpart, the Vision Neue Klasse X transcends the concept stage. The first fully electric model based on this new architecture is slated to commence series production in Hungary in 2025.
