Ford Mustang

Your first memory of the Ford Mustang was probably from the epic high-speed muscle car chase scene in Steve McQueens’ 1968 crime thriller ‘Bullit”. Watching McQueen’s off-the-showroom-floor Mustang GT hurtle over San Francisco’s streets firmly fixed the Mustang as a performance icon.

Today, Ford is making history as they launch their legendary muscle car in Hong Kong as their first officially imported RHD Mustang since it’s creation way back in 1964. Mustang fans will have two choices. Leading the lineup is the Mustang GT 5.0L IiVCT V8, with 435hp and a standard 6-speed manual gearbox; a paddle-shift auto is optional. The engine is all about maximising power with large intake and exhaust valves, cylinder heads that feature high-flow ports, intake and exhaust camshafts that have impressive lift and an exhaust that delivers a powerful acoustic experience. Expect a 0-60 time of 5 seconds.

You can also choose your Mustang in 2.3L EcoBoost GTDi I4 configuration, with 310 hp from an optimally sized twin-scroll turbocharger that transfers high-pulse energy to the turbine wheel, resulting in ultrafast time-to-torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters is standard. Both models feature the SYNC 2 Connectivity System allowing hands-free phone, music and climate control. While Ford hasn’t made plans to bring the potent Shelby GT350 and GT350R to Hong Kong as of yet, high initial interest in their official new RHD offering could change their mind.
