Curved 4K HDR enhancement
Sony S8500D

With Netflix streaming service officially arriving in Hong Kong, people’s interest in watching TV has increased exponentially, particularly when it comes to 4K HDR (high dynamic range) movies, where both the image quality and its realism are enhanced. For one to fully experience the visual impact, a screen supporting this file format is crucial.  Sony’s recent release, the 8500D television, continues the curved design of their previous S8500C, but at a gentler arc in comparison to other comparable products. This way, it can still offer a wide viewing angle, without creating more peripheral distortion on either side of the screen.

The 8500D sports a more refined HDR specification, and is matched with the 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing technology and the TRILUMINOS Display primary color display technology with more delicate color variations so that image can present stronger tonal contrasts without disturbing sharp details. Additionally, its built-in 4K processor X1 allows large-capacity online videos to stream smoothly. It also uses the “Slice of Living” design concept of a curved screen thin border and a slim body. The 8500D utilises the highly flexible Android TV operating system with either a 65-inch or a 55-inch display. Sony has also released its HT-NT5 Sound Bar speaker with a slim shape matching the 8500D’s superb proportions. With built-in 3-way speakers and six discrete amplifiers, compatible with the HDCP 2.2 and the Hi-Res Audio standard, the HT-ND5 can be linked with Sony’s existing wireless surround speakers to significantly enhance the sound field.
