Rimowa Hammerschlag limited collection

We all appreciate RIMOWA for its iconic aluminium luggage cases, renowned for their robust construction and longevity. With a storied legacy spanning over 125 years, the company boasts a repository of archival designs that warrant rediscovery. Among these treasures, the latest offering—the captivating Hammerschlag collection—invites us on a nostalgic journey inspired by a classic hand-carry case from 1966.

The 1966 hand-carry case featured a distinctively textured aluminium exterior with a lustrous polished finish. The newest Hammerschlag collection not only emulates this aesthetic but also derives its name from the German term ‘Hammerschlag,’ translating to ‘hammer hit’ in English, a nod to the suitcase’s unique textured aluminium surface.

Comprising two models—the Hammerschlag Cabin and the Hammerschlag Hand-Carry Case—the collection shares design elements including a hammered aluminium shell, an interpretation of the original cognac leather handle based on the metal handle bridge from the original suitcase, as well as a vintage-inspired nylon and leather compartment divider and interior straps. Each piece is accompanied by a leather luggage tag.

These exclusive offerings are available in limited editions, heightening their appeal as coveted collector’s items. Priced at HK$ 22,300, the Hammerschlag Cabin pays homage to RIMOWA’s establishment year with 1898 numbered units, while the Hammerschlag Hand-Carry Case, priced at HK$ 18,500, commemorates the heritage of its predecessor with a limited production run of 966 pieces.
