Anyone who is passionate about American high performance cars and motorsports will be familiar with the name Carroll Shelby. The car designer and racing driver was well known for his involvement with the AC Cobra and Ford Mustang, while he himself was an avid collector too.

Bonhams will action 24 cars from Shelby’s private collection in the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance sale, taking place on 3 June near New York City. The full lot list has not been published, but we can expect a few Shelby models including a 1969 Shelby GT 500, chassis 0001 of the 1999 Shelby 1 Series and a 2011 Shelby Cobra CSX 8027 continuation classic. There is also a 1935 Chrysler Airflow Sedan said to be acquired from Steve McQueen, and a couple of DeTomaso Panteras. All of the items will be offered without reserve and the full list with details will be revealed a few weeks before the sale.
