Bang & Olufsen has just launched its new flagship speaker, the BeoLab 50. Like most products from the Danish company, the speaker is elegantly crafted, this time with a slender, tall silhouette and round base. The quality aluminium surfaces and warm oak lamellas at the same time offer a refined and modest appearance that works with all interior designs.

There is also a nice surprise at the top of the speaker, when a switch is flicked, the “Acoustic Lens” rises out and alters the sound delivery tailored to the position of the audience. When the lens contracts, it delivers a direct and narrow sound beam towards the preferred listening spot. If you prefer the sound being distributed across the room then it can be adjusted with the slide open.

BeoLab 50 is outfitted with one 3/4-inch tweeter, three 4-inch midrange drivers and three 10-inch woofers. Additionally, 2,100 watts of power is divided between seven dedicated amplifiers, meaning there is no need for a separate amplifier and the speaker is simply plug and play.
