Where Magic Happens
McLaren P1 GTR Workshop

McLaren has released a set of images of their brand new P1 GTR Workshop. The hypercar model may come with a 2-million pound sterling price tag making it out of reach for many, but it’s fascinating to take a glimpse inside the workshop, located within the McLaren headquarters in Woking next to the GT racing department and Special Operations studio.

The all-white and laboratory-like workshop currently hosts twelve P1 GTRs – all sporting various liveries. Purchasing one is an experience all unto itself – from the moment the owner decides to purchase the hypercar there are a few steps to follow –  first is to discuss how the car will be painted with Design Director Frank Stephenson and team. After that, it’s off to a proper seat fitting as well as getting tailor-made racing helmets and suits. Finally, the proud new owner receives simulator training to get themselves ready for the six P1 GTR racing events through the year. With performance from the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 drivetrain hitting 986hp the car’s probably just for the track, which is why some of the P1 GTR owners prefer leaving their beloved cars in the hands of McLaren technicians and engineers; opting to only meet them during race days.
