The Rally-Bred 308 Returns
Maturo 308 Stradale

The Ferrari 308 GTB has always occupied a unique place within Maranello’s history, but few remember the small number of Michelotto-prepared Group 4 rally cars that took the fight to the world’s toughest stages during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Now, Dutch specialist Maturo Competition Cars has revived that forgotten chapter with the new Maturo 308 Stradale, a highly exclusive restomod that transforms Ferrari’s rally-bred machine into a road car for the modern era.

Based in Uden and best known for its acclaimed Lancia Delta Integrale recreations, Maturo has approached the project with remarkable restraint. Rather than reinventing the Ferrari 308, the company has used the Michelotto Group 4 rally car as its foundation, preserving its character while addressing the limitations of the original platform.

A comprehensively reworked 3.0-litre naturally aspirated Dino V8 receives new camshafts, upgraded ignition and intake systems, and a bespoke Capristo exhaust system, raising output from the original 250 hp to around 400 hp. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through a reinforced five-speed dog-leg manual transmission with rally-inspired ratios and a limited-slip differential, while the iconic open-gate shifter remains proudly in place.

The transformation extends far beyond the powertrain. Every donor Ferrari 308 GTB is stripped back to bare metal before receiving more than 150 structural welds and an integrated roll cage to improve rigidity. Lightweight carbon-fibre body panels, modern Tractive suspension and extensive chassis development ensure the car delivers the excitement of a period rally machine without sacrificing refinement.

The Maturo 308 Stradale remains faithful to the original Pininfarina design. Subtly widened arches inspired by the Michelotto racers, discreet LED lighting and classic 15-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P7 Corsa tyres create an appearance that feels authentic rather than exaggerated. Inside, leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre are combined with analogue instruments and an Abarth-inspired gauge cluster, deliberately avoiding modern touchscreens.

Limited to just ten examples worldwide and priced from €425,000 before taxes and donor car costs, the Maturo 308 Stradale is an exceptionally rare tribute to one of Ferrari’s most intriguing motorsport stories.
