Repurposed Vintage Car Headlights
Urban Light Factory

I’m a great fan of repurposed goods. From Rebuild by Needles flannel shirts and cut-off shorts to Christopher Raeburn rucksacks and Ivania Carpio’s recently-released D.I.Y. coat stand for our sister publication, Obscura Magazine, there’s plenty to love about creating something beautiful from materials that would otherwise be ignored or discarded. Another great example we came across recently is a Berlin-based company known as Urban Light Factory, which specializes in turning vintage car headlights — some of them quite old — into new and unique lamps.

Available in a variety of one-of-a-kind makeups and configurations, each lamp is handmade and rewired for easy use indoors, while tripod mounted versions like the Otto and Schwarzlicht, and ceiling designs in blue, red and black offer suitable lighting options for a variety of spaces and occasions.
