Munich-based Diamond Atelier has spent the past decade building a reputation for crafting beautifully executed custom motorcycles that blur the line between engineering and art. Its latest creation, however, goes a step further. Unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the DA#22 Ultron is described by the company as the world’s first ‘Hyperbike’, signalling the beginning of an entirely new direction rather than simply another bespoke superbike.
Hand-built as a fully road-legal, one-off prototype, the DA#22 was created to explore what a motorcycle can become when design, craftsmanship, and engineering are developed without compromise. More than 1,000 hours went into shaping its aluminium bodywork by hand, giving the machine an unmistakable silhouette that resembles concept art more than a conventional production motorcycle.
Perhaps its most remarkable feature is the finish itself. Rather than relying on LED lighting, Diamond Atelier has integrated electroluminescent paint directly into the bodywork. When voltage is applied, the coating emits light, effectively turning the motorcycle’s skin into its own light source. Developed over several months with paint specialist Alex Bloch of Stilbruch Lack, the unique red formulation is equally exclusive, with only one litre ever produced. Every drop was used on the DA#22, ensuring the colour can never be replicated.
Performance is equally serious. Built around a V-twin platform producing more than 205 hp, the DA#22 features a bespoke Wilbers suspension package that combines World Superbike-derived technology with a custom rear setup tailored specifically to the project. A striking 3D-printed titanium exhaust follows the motorcycle’s architecture rather than conforming to traditional manufacturing constraints, while an integrated cockpit conceals the display beneath glass to create an exceptionally clean rider interface.
Although Diamond Atelier describes the DA#22 as the starting point for an ultra-limited series rather than a finished production model, it already demonstrates an uncompromising vision for the future of high-performance motorcycles. Whether the term ‘Hyperbike’ becomes a recognised category remains to be seen, but the DA#22 Ultron has certainly made a compelling case for it.
