Pininfarina’s Sergio
Becomes Ferrari’s Newest Rarity.

Pininfarina’s “Sergio” concept as seen above was one of the highlights of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It was built to not only showcase the latest styling ideas of the Italian design house, but to also honor its late patriarch Sergio Pininfarina, who led Pininfarina for 40 years and conceived some of the greatest Ferraris to ever see production.

Ferrari has confirmed that six units of the Sergio will be built, and have already been sold to six of Ferrari’s most loyal customers. The first car, with a more practical windscreen in front of the cockpit, was presented to its owner during the Ferrari Finali Mondiali took place in Abu Dhabi last December.

Looking back to this original concept, the two-seat Sergio uses the Ferrari 458 Spider floorpan and drivetrain and is distinguished by Pininfarina’s trademark flowing style. Its appearance is meant to link with the design firm’s Ferrari models from the 1960s; each of its design elements conjuring up the powerful, yet simple forms of Mille Miglia and Targa Florio winning racing machines in that golden age of the sport.
