Prelude to Baselworld
Omega's latest Master Chronometers

There is still about a month to go until the beginning of Baselworld, and it seems Omega has it all planned out for the yearly watch and jewellery show. The watchmaker has released details of the two models being launched in Baselworld next month. Both Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph and Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M have a new movement and are certified as Master Chronometer.

As the first watch worn on the moon, it is almost like a tradition to have a moon-related model for Speedmaster from time to time. The latest one is the Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph featuring a realistic representation of the moon. Omega claims if you take a closer look at the image you will see an astronaut’s footprint. It is powered by the new 9904 movement made up of 368 components. Other than the beautiful moonphase indicator at 6 o’clock the watch is a masterpiece on a blue theme. It has a stunning sun-brushed blue dial, blue ceramic bezel with liquid metal tachymeter and is completed with a blue leather strap clasped with a foldover buckle.

The second model, Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M, is targeted to the ladies. At 39.5mm it has a warm colour palette and this is the first time Omega uses 18K Sedna gold for the Planet Ocean collection. The soft reddish tone of the metal is complemented with chocolate brown ceramic dial and bezel and brown leather strap with rubber underside. The Planet Ocean 600M is one of the first ladies’ timepieces to attain the Master Chronometer rating. The new calibre 8801 movement can be seen through the caseback that has a unique undulating pattern.
