Moving Sculpture
Ferrari 312 by Dennis Hoyt

The Ferrari 312 was a V12-powered Formula 1 race car developed in the 1960s and piloted by notable drivers like John Surtees and Jacky Ickx. American sculptor Dennis Hoyt first turned this famous machine into a sculpture 2003, using a signature style that offers a unique sense of motion.

Hoyt only made one example for the sculpture and it was crafted using a single piece of basswood then dyed in bright red. The extra detail on the body and the tyres mimic the dynamics and speed of a sprinting F1 car.

This beautiful sculpture will be available for sale in RM Sotheby’s highly anticipated New York auction on 6 December with an estimated price of US$ 40,000–60,000.
