China’s search engine giant Baidu just unveiled its AI-powered series that transforms the smart home experience with three AI-powered hardware products that can hear, understand and fulfil consumer needs using Baidu’s latest technologies: DuerOS 2.0.

The Raven series is a result of Baidu successfully obtaining the startup under the same name. It includes a high-end smart speaker ‘Raven H’ and the world’s first automated six-axis robot with emotional intelligence dubbed ‘Raven R’.

Jointly designed by Raven Tech and Swedish consumer electronics manufacturer Teenage Engineering with Danish high-end audio systems maker Tymphany, the colourful-looking raven H is not just a premium audio device to give users an extraordinary music experience. It also comes with the DuerOS2.0 voice technology that provides an instant gateway to Baidu’s vast online resources, which allows a user to verbally perform a wide range of tasks including searching for information, playing music, and even hailing a taxi.

Meanwhile, the Raven R features similar functions to the Raven H, only it has six human-like “joints” that allow it to move flexibly following a user’s command, and express emotions to enhance the interactive experience.

The Raven H will be available in December, while the Raven R is still in development and no release date has been confirmed.
