More Brio For the Clio
Renault Clio RS 16 Concept
Renault revealed its new Clio RS 16 Concept earlier this year at the Monaco Grand Prix. French publication Caradisiac recently reported that Renault could turn the concept into a limited production of 500 units.
The concept utilises the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine of the Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, which generates 271 hp. Using the 2-lter unit would require significant modifications to fit the larger engine into RS 16’s 1.6-litre-sized engine bay. Despite the added complexity of the retrofit, Renault is said to be keen on going forward with the concept run, so anything could happen. As Patrice Ratti, Managing Director of Renault Sport said when the R16 was first announced, “We all recalled the impact made by the Clio V6. We wanted to create a technical concept car with extraordinary performance levels, but more realistically priced.”
The estimated cost could be around 40,000 euros if the project receives the green light. Rumours suggest Renault will officially announce it at the Paris Motor Show in October.
