Japanese custom carmaker Rocky Auto brought two Toyota 2000GT replica models to the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024. The iconic Toyota 2000GT was built in the mid-1960s with a production run of just 351 examples. With the original examples being almost impossible to acquire now, it’s exciting to see Rocky putting their  effort in creating these modern versions.

The Rocky 2000GT is offered in two body styles, coupe and convertible. Interestingly, Toyota never put an open-top version of 2000GT for sale, but there was a one-off example specially made for the 1967 James Bond movie You Only Live Twice. Both Rocky 2000GT variants are completely created using custom-made chassis and handmade bodywork by Rocky Auto, and fitted with a 2.0-litre 6 cylinder engine, though the make of the engine hasn’t been disclosed yet.

For bringing the classic sports car to present, Rocky Auto is adding contemporary amenities to the Rocky 2000GT, including air conditioning, hydraulic rack and pinion power steering, electric windows and anti-lock braking system. Pricing of the 2000GT replicas has not been announced yet, but Rocky Auto is selling the 3000GT replica at 23,800,000 yen before tax so it should fall into a similar range.
