Freezing Time
Maria Svarbova

Maria Svarbova, a photographer currently living in Slovakia, is exhibiting her latest series of work “Swimming Pool”, at the Miami Leica store from the 28th of September to the 30th of November. Svarbova’s photography focuses on space, colour and atmosphere, and always includes human figures because she believes they make the scenes more meaningful. But these elements seem emotionally detached, and often in a fixed position. When applied repetitively and symmetrically, with a distinct colour palette, her images impart impressions that are both retro and futuristic.

Svarbova’s photographs seem to transform action into a static state, capturing a particular moment or freezing time to obtain a visually intriguing design. We look forward to seeing this young photographer’s work grow and mature as she employs new context as a theme in the future.
