Fastest Acceleration Record Achieved
Aspark Owl completes 0-100 in less than 2 seconds

When we first heard about the Aspark Owl last year around the time of Frankfurt Motor Show, we were not sure about the car because its maker was unheard of. Fast forward to now, and the Owl has become the fastest accelerating commercial vehicle.

As reported by Japanese website Gigazine, Aspark arranged an acceleration speed test in a parking lot in Tochigi, Japan on 11 February, in which the Owl achieved the 0-100 km/h time of 1.921 seconds. The current official record holder is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon in 2.3 seconds for 0-60 mph (around 97 km/h), which means Owl is almost 0.4 second faster.

The two-seater is just 850 kg and extremely low in height at 990 mm. Powered by two motors that output 429 hp combined, the Owl has a top speed of 280 km/h and its battery pack offers a range of 150 km. Aspark targets to sell only 50 examples of the Owl at €3.5 million each in 2019.
