Phillips has once again teamed up with Blackbird for another themed auction following the success of last year’s SPORTS watch auction. As the auction title RETROSPECTIVE: 2000 – 2020 suggests, the sale focuses on timepieces created after the millennium only.
With a total of 95 lots, the auction features contemporary creations from established horology powerhouses including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille and more, as well as master watchmakers such as Jean-Claude Biver, Philippe Dufour, Thierry Stern, and François-Paul Journe. One of the highlights is the Philippe Dufour Simplicity 20th Anniversary model in rose gold number 00/20. With over 30 years in watchmaking, it’s astonishing that Philippe Dufour has made less than 230 watches and less than 8 watches a year. It is the level of passion and detail presented by Dufour that keeps watchmaking an art form and all his watches highly sought after. even though they rarely appear on the market.
