US sound system factory Bose has remained to be a strong player in various markets ever since its establishment in 1964. Spotted in places such as retail stores, theaters, automobiles, large gymnasiums, and even the US space shuttle and the Olympic, their professional speakers have been successfully leaving traces all around. The most unique feature of their products is how they have abandoned the treble horn design of the traditional speaker, in favor for a full-range system, which not only greatly reduce distortion, but also improves fidelity. Developed to remain suitable for the digital, and even the wireless world today, the factory has recently entered the field of personal usage, with their latest SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker which was released during their last conference in 2015.
The SoundTouch series has already released two generations worth of products, and the biggest feature this time round is adding the Bluetooth connectivity on top of the Wi-Fi connection, so that it can be used even when there is no network coverage. This allows the product to abandon AirPlay, and thus transform itself into a device which is no longer exclusive to Apple systems. Apart from that, the Spotify app has been preloaded in the SoundTouch program, so that its related streaming music services are being supported. This way, Spotify Connect can also be used to control the SoundTouch program, which fully integrates both the software and the hardware. Last but not least, this machine measures only at the size of a “bible”. Combining Unidome unit and digital signal processing together, it has successfully broken Bose’s product record, by offering the most coverage within their other products of a similar size. The effect of this product is vivid, as it provides deep and extremely powerful sounds, which makes it highly compatible to the small living spaces which we have here in Hong Kong.
