An Electric For Le Mans
Panoz Green4U GT-EV Prototype

Green4U Technologies, a US-based electric vehicle startup has partnered with custom sports car company Panoz to design an all-electric race car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The new Panoz Green4U GT-EV will use a removable battery pack design, allowing battery exchanges at pit stops rather than recharges. The 4U GT-EV will be all-wheel drive and powered by two electric motors, one at the rear, and the other at the front, boasting around 450 kW of power in total (as much as 600 hp). The carbon fibre 4U GT-EV chassis will keep the car lightweight, between 2,000 to 2,750 pounds with its battery pack included.

The 4U GT-EV can reach top speeds of 150 to 180 mph, using active aerodynamics to reduce drag on straightaways and increase range. The Panoz Green4U GT-EV aims to compete in the Garage 56 category at Le Mans 2018, a slot with relaxed rules reserved for designs representing future-thinking for innovative racing cars.

Stay tuned for more news as the Panoz Green4U GT-EV moves forward into testing.
