A New Way of Gaming
PlayStation Portal remote player

Sony gave us a quick preview of the PlayStation 5 handheld device “Project Q” back in May, and now the company has finally revealed more information on the upcoming remote play device — now officially named the PlayStation Portal.

The PlayStation Portal offers gamers a brand new PS5 experience on the palm. Equipped with an 8-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution at 60 fps, it shares key features with the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. As it’s connected through Wi-Fi, PlayStation Portal can stream supported games installed on the PS5 console with high-definition visuals. This would be a great alternative if you want to continue on gaming progress while all TV screens at home are being used by other members of the household. The 3.5 mm audio jack on the device ensures wired audio is included for a more immersive gaming experience. With a tentative price of US$ 199.99, PlayStation Portal will be available in various markets including Hong Kong later this year.

Sony has also recently unveiled the new Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds under the PlayStation moniker. Priced at US$ 149.99 and $199.99 respectively, the headset and earbuds are said to deliver a low latency, audiophile-level listening experience seldom found in gaming earpieces when paired with either the PS5 console or the PlayStation Portal. What’s more, the AI-enhanced microphone noise reduction ensures clear communication without repetitive background noise. The company has yet to announce the launch dates of these two devices.
