Watch brand SevenFriday was established five years ago when the team behind it grew tired of the traditional watch industry in Switzerland. They decided to put all their existing watchmaking knowledge together and create a brand aiming to be different from design concept to style.
Although the brand’s headquarters is located in Zurich, SevenFriday has never emphasised itself as a Swiss brand. In fact they proudly proclaim that while the concepts are developed in Switzerland, the movements are made in Japan and the watches are assembled in China. All SevenFriday watches are powered by a Miyota movement from Japan, yet the team makes some changes before fitting them. For example, the movement is turned into a skeleton for showing the balance-spring, while the standard hands on the dial are be replaced by disks.
The SevenFriday P3/06 Yacht Club is a special edition limited to 450 pieces. Based on the pillow-shaped, 47 x 47.6 mm case from the P-Series, the animation ring is made of seven layers of waterproof maple veneer for mimicking the function and texture of a yacht deck. The dial features the red central hour hand, a white minute hand extending from a compass-shaped ring and a blue second disk for basic time telling, while there is another blue 24 hour disk at the 9 o’clock position. The case is water resistant up to 30 metres and is paired with blue suede strap. The built-in NFC chip allows authenticity verification via the SevenFriday Android app.
