Exploring the earth
Turtle Rover by Kell Ideas

Thanks to drones, with just a few gestures, we can now effortlessly explore places and scenery that previously could not be reached. They’re not perfect though. Good luck, for example, flying near rough terrain or inside narrow caves.

The Turtle Rover is developed by Polish startup Kell Ideas. The project has successfully raised sufficient funds on Kickstarter and is now under production. The team at Kell Ideas previously developed Mars Rover concepts and worked on projects organised by the German, Swedish, and European Space Agencies. The team was the first runner-up in the University Rover Challenge competition.

With the experience gaining from working with the Mars Rover, the Turtle Rover is Kell Ideas’ first officially developed rover product. It is not targeted to be used on Mars, but a little closer to home. Made of stainless steel and aluminium, the waterproof Turtle Rover weighs around 18 pounds and has a range of up to 220 yards. The rover features accessories like a robotic arm, infrared sensors and camera for scientific environment exploration. The team mentioned that Turtle Rover was initially developed for studying volcanic areas, which is why it is uses such large wheels and a solid body, designed to work perfectly in extreme terrains.
