Armoured vehicles might not be something that the ordinary person would ever need to drive (hopefully), but that doesn’t stop us from appreciating these incredible machines from afar. South Africa-based Paramount Group launched the impressive Marauder military truck over 10 years ago, and now the company is ready to unleash the Marauder Mark 2 with a series of upgrades and new features.

The Marauder Mark 2 is designed as a multi-role vehicle in armed forces across the globe and is fully functional in extreme conditions from –20ºC to 50ºC and 24/7, with perfect vision day or night. With an IED and mine-protected double-skinned monocoque hull, and significant ground clearance, the military truck carries two personel up front and eight in the back.

One of the big selling points of the Marauder Mark 2 is that not only can the vehicle be manufactured in either left or right-hand drive configuration, but the crew can also easily convert the drive from left to right (or right to left)  in under two hours. This is made possible by using the same hull and component sets for both left and right-hand drive vehicles — this flexibility will be a massive benefit to operational forces that take on peacekeeping deployments in different countries.

The Marauder Mark 2 certainly has an imposing presence, but it is capable of travelling at a top speed of 110 km/h and can be transported on aircraft like the C130 and Chinook. The original Marauder has been deployed in various regions including Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, and South East Asia, so the Mark 2 should do just as well if not better.
