Gran Turismo 7 has continued to surprise us with shockingly regular updates since its launch back in March. The latest — 1.20 — is now live and introduces three new circuit layouts and four exciting new cars, including Ayrton Senna’s legendary Formula 1 McLaren.
The legendary 1988 McLaren MP4/4, designed by Gordon Murray and Steve Nichols, was the pinnacle of F1’s turbocharged golden era. Powered by the Honda RA168E engine, the iconic race car brought home the Constructors’ Championship for McLaren-Honda, with Senna and Alain Prost winning fifteen out of sixteen races between them. The number 12 MP4/4 was Senna’s, and took him to the year’s Drivers’ Championship with thirteen pole positions and eight wins.
Another new arrival in the game is the 1969 Pontiac GTO ‘The Judge’ — a potent sports package prepared for the popular muscle car. With special decals and racing stripes, a Hurst shifter, heavy-duty suspension, wider tyres, a rear spoiler, and an engine upgrade, it deserved all the attention it gained when it was first launched.
The third new vehicle is the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4, a track-focused version of the Cayman coupe with a roll cage, fire extinguishers, and a six-point harness in addition to unique aerodynamic components including a new front lip and fixed rear wing.
Lastly, the De Tomaso Mangusta collaboration with fashion house Dior hits a little different. Reimagined by Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Dior men’s collections, the Mangusta is layered in a low-key beige and light grey stripe colour scheme, complete with the Dior logo and racing number 47, which represents the year of Dior’s debut collection. The car comes with a Dior racing suit and helmet that will automatically be applied to the driving avatar when the car is selected.
Three new layouts have also been added to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, including “GP Layout No Chicane” with the final chicane omitted, the “National Layout” with a shortened track, and the “Rallycross Layout” that includes both paved and unpaved surfaces. The menus of the Café section have been updated too, allowing players to create new car collections based on various themes.
