Turning Impossible Into Reality
Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept

Lamborghini has unveiled its latest electric super sports car concept dubbed the “Terzo Millennio”, a result of its partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that began last year. The Terzo Millennio physically imagines design and technology theories of the future, while sustaining the visual intrigue, breath-taking performance and, most importantly, the visceral emotion found in every dimension of a Lamborghini. It is concept made for future super sports car enthusiasts.

Automobili Lamborghini substantially financed the collaboration with the aim of fulfilling Lamborghini’s goal of developing cutting-edge energy storage systems and innovative materials. The automaker’s goals were conceived together with two MIT laboratories; the “Dinca Research Lab”, led by Prof. Mircea Dinca, Department of Chemistry and the “Mechanosynthesis Group”, led by Prof. Anastasios John Hart, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The name Terzo Millennio means “third millennium” in Italian. The supercar will deliver high peak power and re-generate kinetic energy nearly free from the influence of aging and cycling during the vehicle’s life and have the ability to release and harvest electric power symmetrically. To support this revolution in energy storage systems, both Lamborghini and MIT will investigate new manufacturing routes for the Terzo Millennio’s carbon fibre bodyshell to enable the car’s entire structure to act as an energy storage accumulator.

“Collaborating with MIT for our R&D department is an exceptional opportunity to do what Lamborghini has always been very good at: rewriting the rules on super sports cars. Now we are presenting an exciting and progressive concept car. We are inspired by embracing what is impossible today to craft the realities of tomorrow: Lamborghini must always create the dreams of the next generation.” says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini.
