Two Belgian Designers Create a 2030 Tesla Le Mans Prototype

Belgian designers Jeroen Claus and Fabian Brees have created a Tesla Le Mans prototype for the year 2030. The project was part of the Michelin Design Challenge 2017, a contest to gather conceptual race car designs for the 2030 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The conceptual race car looks sleek, sexy and futuristic, just as you would expect from Tesla. The designers hypothetically claim the car recorded an 452.8 km/h on the Mulsanne Straight during pre-race tests, slightly edging out the old record set by a petrol powered hybrid. Though the duo did not enclose details about its driveline, they did mention the discovery of “a fair number of Audi, Porsche and Nissan spies around the track, eager to find out the tiniest detail about this monster.”

Significantly, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies abound in the concept car. The audience at Le Mans will each receive a cardboard headset, which they can use it to track the races with (subtle) visual aids. The technology also allows the personal aspect back into racing, raising awareness of a pilot’s progress against his or her closest competitors.
