The Minimalist Conversion
BMW Motorrad F 850 GS 'Bauhaus 100' by Krautmotors

Krautmotors has customised a BMW F 850 GS to tribute the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bauhaus movement. Dubbed “Bauhaus 100’ directly, the bike channels the school’s minimalistic and geometric aesthetic, blending in unique retro elements with the modern design.

Bike builder Rolf Reick of Krautmotors workshop in Heidelberg was the main man behind the project, which started from January this year and took around six months to complete. With the aim of showcasing the new engine of BMW F 850 GS, Reick custom built the fork, tank, exhaust and seat and chose a R60/6 frame as the basis for modification. The frame was stretched and widened, taking inspiration from ‘Lounge Chair’ designed by Marcel Breuer, one of the key students during the Bauhaus movement in the 1920s. With the 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels featuring custom moon discs and vintage tyres, the completed bike is not just powerful for a sprint but can also suitably sit in an art gallery.
