The Crocodile Goes Rallying
Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye

Two of France’s most recognisable brands have joined forces to create one of the year’s most unexpected collaborations. Combining Alpine’s motorsport pedigree with Lacoste’s sporting elegance, the one-off Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye is built on the competition-ready A290 Rallye.

As a showcase of the belief that true performance comes through innovation, precision and lightness, Alpine and Lacoste selected the A290 Rallye rather than a standard road car as the foundation for the project. Developed for customer motorsport, the electric rally car already features a competition-focused chassis, widened tracks, dedicated suspension, a reinforced braking system and bespoke electronic calibration designed to perform across demanding rally stages.

The collaboration mainly focuses on enhancing the car’s visual appeal, taking inspiration from Lacoste’s famous crocodile logo and its distinctive red tongue. Contrasting against a bluish-white exterior finish inspired by Alpine landscapes of snow and ice, the bodywork features dramatic wheel arches, a roof scoop, exposed carbon fibre, a prominent rear spoiler and an aggressive diffuser. The front lighting has been subtly reinterpreted to resemble the crocodile’s distinctive gaze, while a remarkable 290 crocodile motifs are hidden throughout the car’s design.

The interior continues the theme with a striking monochromatic red cabin intended to place the driver inside the crocodile’s mouth. Lacoste’s signature petit piqué fabric trims the seats and door panels, with embroidery produced by Potencier, the historic workshop responsible for the embroidered crocodiles found on the brand’s iconic polo shirts. Even the rally seats feature crocodile motifs surrounding the 3D-printed components and red anodised structural elements.

The collaboration extends beyond the car itself with a capsule clothing collection featuring polos, T-shirts, technical apparel and accessories, inspired by both the race circuit and the tennis court.
