It is not every day that a life-size LEGO car sets a speed record, but that is exactly what this full-size LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear replica has achieved.

Built to celebrate the launch of the upcoming LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar set, the 1:1 LEGO car reached 111 km/h at the Goodwood Estate, more than doubling the previous LEGO Technic big-build speed record of 50 km/h. Behind the wheel was Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, who famously set the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb record in the real Sadair’s Spear in 2025. Driving the LEGO creation in reverse up the famous hill, Lundh helped establish an entirely new record category at Goodwood while demonstrating just how far LEGO Technic engineering has come.

Constructed from an astonishing 327,906 LEGO elements, the drivable replica weighs around 1,800 kg, with approximately 400 kg made from LEGO Technic components. The project required more than 9,400 hours to design and build, faithfully recreating key features of the real megacar, including its distinctive Ghost Mode and even the signature Koenigsegg key.

The record-breaking creation also marks the arrival of the latest addition to the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series. The 1:8-scale Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar consists of 4,104 pieces and introduces several technical firsts for the range. Alongside a functional V8 piston engine, working steering and a removable roof, the model features a 9-speed transmission, Triplex front and rear suspension, and an innovative rotating gear indicator. Most impressive of all is the fully functioning Ghost Mode, which simultaneously raises the rear clamshell, opens the dihedral synchro-helix doors and front bonnet, and folds the mirrors with a single movement.

The completed LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar model measures over 15 cm high, 59 cm long and 28 cm wide, and will go on sale from 4 July.
