The 2015 Belgian Grand Prix / Spa-Francorchamps

Disappointments

Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull was in a spirited fight for third when he lost hydraulic power at the Bus Stop Chicane on Lap 20.

Vettel was running a brilliant third, under strong pressure from Romain Grosjean when his tyre instantaneously deflated. Vettel had been nursing his medium compound second set of Pirellis to the race end to make a one-stop strategy work after a two-tenths mistake in qualifying left him eighth on the grid. He missed by one lap as his right rear tyre burst after running on the tire for 28 laps. The two-time winner this season wound up 12th after crawling slowly back to the pits for repairs.

After qualifying third, Valtteri Bottas endured another difficult William’s day after his poor start; Williams mixed up the tyres it fitted to his car at the first pitstop and he left the pit lane with three soft tyres and one medium on the right rear. The Finn was duly handed a drive through penalty that dropped him from seventh on the road to 11th, but he was able to recover to ninth by the finish. He seems either snake-bit or is driving to orders from Williams to risk nothing to ensure points.
