RV1 Carbon Chair by Kris Lamba
The art of dualism in a single chair.

A bright black layer has been shaped into a chair, to be placed inside of a huge space with reflections all around. It is clear like a mirror, and it merges the object with its surroundings, fulfilling the inexorable law of furniture design which he believes in. The chair is made out of carbon fiber, resin and a highly polished layer of lacquer. Bent into a continuous shape which has no legs nor breakage point, this hand-made craft embodies the less-is-more aesthetics, delivering streamlines so perfect that it makes it elegant like a piano.

British designer Kris Lamba believes that “we form an emotional bond with the furniture and objects that we surround ourselves with.”

Kris majored in cabinetry, and self learned most of his skills. He loves to draw inspirations from nature, and the creations by him in these recent years are made out of wood. He also likes to combine modern technology into the creation for simplistic and practical home goods. His latest work, the RV1 Carbon Chair, is committed to the research of using a single piece of carbon fiber, measuring at over 20 meters, to create a chair. Although there has been a lot of designs in the market, which also uses only one piece of raw material for production to reduce waste, this chair is rare, because it offers two ways of sitting. Each pressure point has been precisely calculated based on human ergonomics, so whether you are sitting in an upright working posture, or in a relaxed, lazy slanted posture, this chair can provide both with a unique experience.
