Record Breaker, Refined
McMurtry Spéirling Pure final production edition

We first heard about McMurtry Automotive’s Spéirling back in 2022. The British manufacturer was a newcomer to the automotive world, yet its prototype stunned enthusiasts by setting a new Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb record. Since then, the company has continued refining the concept with the more powerful Spéirling Pure, and now, in 2026, McMurtry has finally unveiled the production version in its final form.

Far from being a lightly revised prototype, the production-spec Spéirling Pure has undergone a comprehensive transformation, with 95 per cent of its components redesigned. While retaining the revolutionary fan-assisted Downforce-on-Demand system that made the original famous, the production car has been engineered to deliver Formula 1-level performance in a package that is surprisingly straightforward to own and operate. McMurtry describes it as a plug-and-play hyper track car, allowing owners to enjoy top-notch performance without the complexity often associated with machines of this level.

Performance figures are nothing short of extraordinary. The twin electric motors produce 1,000 hp, launching the Spéirling Pure from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.55 seconds before reaching a top speed of 305 km/h. More remarkable still is its ability to generate 2,000 kg of downforce from a standstill, allowing the car to sustain forces of up to 3g through corners and under braking. Rather than relying solely on aerodynamic speed, twin fans spinning at up to 23,000 rpm literally suck the car onto the track, providing immense grip from the moment it moves.

The production model also brings significant improvements in everyday usability. A larger 100 kWh battery replaces the earlier 60 kWh unit, extending track running while supporting rapid charging. The wheelbase has grown from 2.0 metres to 2.2 metres, creating more cabin space and accommodating the larger battery, while hydraulic power steering replaces the previous electric system to deliver greater feedback. Performance boosting elements such as wider Michelin slick tyres, a swan-neck rear wing, integrated headlights are paired with practicality, including a storage compartment large enough for race gear.

The cabin has also evolved into a more refined environment, featuring a bespoke racing steering wheel, central digital display and custom-moulded seats tailored to each owner. Every Spéirling Pure is hand-built at McMurtry’s new Cotswolds factory and can be extensively personalised, from exterior graphics to interior trim.

The full production form of Spéirling Pure will make its debut at The Quail in Monterey, California on 14 August. Before that, it will be displayed creatively at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 9-12 July.
