Record Breaker For Production
McMurtry Spéirling Pure

When McMurtry Spéirling broke the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb record in 2022, the English automaker was fairly unknown, and the result certainly made for an impressive introduction. Now McMurtry is ready to enhance the track car’s performance even further with the upgraded Spéirling Pure.

From afar, the Spéirling Pure looks almost the same as the Goodwood record holder, but McMurtry has been working hard under the carbon fibre skin. For a start, the Spéirling Pure focuses on multi-lap sessions on racing circuits with a fast charge turnaround. The patented “Downforce-on-Demand” fan system has also been reworked for even better efficiency and the all-electric drivetrain is able to push 1,000 hp and propel the track car to a maximum of 305 km/h. The 60 kWh battery system – located under the driver’s legs – can be quickly charged in under 20 minutes.

The suspension and bodywork has been re-engineered, too, most notably the skirt design, wheel arch, and underbody aerodynamics. The body of the track car is very compact at 1.02 m tall, 1.58 m wide, and 3.45 m long, which puts it close to the proportions of classic 1960s grand prix racers, though the automaker does stress that the cockpit can accommodate drivers up to 2 metres and 150 kg.

The validation prototype of the Spéirling Pure will appear at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month, with pre-production prototypes to follow in 2024. Priced at £820,000 up, only 100 examples of the Spéirling Pure will be produced, with deliveries starting in 2025.
