Brabham BT62 to make first dynamic public appearance at Goodwood

Brabham’s race-inspired track car BT62 will join the Hillclimb at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. This is going to be the very first time that the 710 hp supercar run in front of the eyes of the public.

As much as showcasing the power of the 5.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, the 1200 kg of downforce generated from the aero body package and more, the appearance has a deeper meaning to the automaker with a rich racing heritage. As explained by managing director David Brabham, “The Goodwood Festival of Speed is without equal in celebrating all things automotive, and the opportunity to drive the legendary Hillclimb route is amazing. Giving the BT62 its dynamic public debut and returning the Brabham name, with all of its historical significance and racing pedigree, to Goodwood will be an experience I’ll never forget. My father attended the Festival himself many times, and it’s great to continue the tradition of a Brabham driving a Brabham up the hill.”

Debuting at Goodwood is one of the 35 Celebration series examples and it will feature the brand new red-and-blue livery, paying tribute to the iconic red-and-blue Brabham BT46B that took the 19th of 35 Formula 1 victories in Brabham’s history. Dubbed the ‘fan car’, it only raced once and was driven by Niki Lauda at the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix.
