Racing Passion In Brick Form
LEGO's upcoming motorsport sets

At the outset of the year, whispers circulated about LEGO unveiling a brick set inspired by the 2023 Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 W14 race car under the LEGO Technic series. The Danish company has now officially confirmed this news, set to be released alongside other motorsport-themed sets. What makes this release particularly exhilarating is its appeal across various age groups, fostering bonding among racing enthusiasts within families through shared play experiences.

Among the standout releases is the 1988 McLaren MP4/4, now immortalized as the LEGO Icons McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna set. Developed in collaboration with McLaren Racing and the Senna brand, this 693-piece set features working steering, rod suspension, an adjustable rear wing, and a detailed turbocharged V6 engine. Notably, it includes an Ayrton Senna minifigure with his quote on a display stand, making it a must-have for every racing fan.

Following this is the much-anticipated Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance race car, available in two versions under the LEGO Technic series. There’s a complex version tailored for adults, alongside a pull-back toy car suitable for children aged seven and above. The adult version is a meticulously detailed 1:8 scale model with 1,642 pieces, boasting a six-cylinder engine with moving pistons and an opening wing inspired by the real-world car’s DRS system. Meanwhile, the 240-piece pull-back version promises equally thrilling fun with its realistic movement and livery mirroring the actual race car.

In the LEGO Speed Champions series, the 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car set faithfully represents the black-and-papaya livery, while the BMW M4 GT3 & BMW M Hybrid V8 Race Cars set includes a minifigure for each car to fuel imaginative racing scenarios. Both sets cater to children aged nine and up.

For even younger racing enthusiasts, LEGO City introduces the Green Race Car set completed with a race car and mini figures of a driver and a photographer. Additionally, the Race Car and Car Carrier Truck set features a lowered suspension race car with a sleek ‘slammed-wide’ design, accompanied by a transporter featuring a loading ramp, plus two minifigure drivers.

All of these motorsport-themed sets will be available online, as well as in LEGO stores and selected retailers globally, starting from 1st March.
