At first glance it is not exactly easy to tell what the machine pictured actually does. With a raw and simple design, the Newton is an easy to use portable espresso machine that has minimum maintenance and cleaning work to do and does not require any electricity.

The seals, piston and leverage system are the only components needed to generate high water pressure for a good extraction. The Newton is almost foolproof even for a coffee newbie as it is designed to generate 8 to 10 bar pressure, while coffee enthusiasts can control the pressure and ultimately the extraction by changing the force applied to the handle, the amount of coffee ground, the tamping pressure and the coarseness of the grind.

Made of lacquered wood, aluminium and stainless steel, Newton is robust for outdoor use and can be wall mounted for saving some space on the kitchen countertop. The Newton will be available to order on Kickstarter in October.
