Automotive designer Rico Kersten has created this futuristic, conceptual project called The Beast. From the images it’s difficult to really pinpoint what this gem is all about except that it could fit well into any sci-fi movie. From Kersten’s own description, The Beast is “a hover-air-bike that is powered by a radial fan like those you can find on graphic cards or some older hairdryers from the 70’s.”

Based in Berlin, Rico Kersten is no stranger to futuristic vehicle concepts as he has at least 16 similar projects under his belt. For The Beast, originally Kersten wanted to create a big ship with a radial fan but later decided to create a smaller vehicle for one person only, and added wings at the bottom for steering and two big thrust reverse brakes. It seems like was the right decision as the project came second in “A Road Trip in 2116“, an algorithmic contest judged by a panel of industry experts including digital artists and film directors. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we see Kersten’s name in the end credits of the next sci-fi blockbuster.
