On the southern German campus headquarters of the Vitra brand, two objects form the installation ‘Ruisseau and Ring’ (‘Ruisseau’ meaning ‘stream’). They are designed by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, with the stream represented by a big slice of grey marble with a silver tap on the end, with water flowing down the marble pathway. The ‘ring’ part is a steel ring circling a cherry tree, inviting people to sit and relax onits surface. Although ‘Ruisseau and Ring’ appears both minimal and straightforward, it cleverly blends nature with the human-built environment, perfectly enhancing each element for an improvement to the setting.
