Nostalgic New Dream
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Aston Martin has unveiled the new DBS Superleggera, bringing back the famous name for the first time since 1967.

The new DBS Superleggera is a Super GT that is 4.712m long and offers 2 + 2 seats. Compared with the DB11 model it is based on, the new car is lighter, wider and more aggressively styled. The word Superleggera means “super light”, and in this case it refers to the DBS being 72kg lighter than the DB11. The dry kerb weight of 1693kg is made possible with the use of carbon fibre body panels, while compelling curves are combined with aerodynamic design and an F1-inspired double-diffuser. The DBS Superleggera is able to generate 180kg of maximum downforce, the best number for a series-production Aston Martin.

The 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine is paired with the new ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox and generates 715hp and 900Nm. The new DBS Superleggera manages to go from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 340km/h. The aluminium chassis was also taken from the DB11 and can be set up in GT, Sport or Sport Plus modes.

Aston Martin has also invited renowned photographer Nick Knight to create a short video, using both photography and CGI to bring out the key attribute of the car — speed — in futuristic monochrome imagery.
