One of New York Auto Show’s most impressive exhibits this year is certainly the Genesis Essentia Concept. Since being independently branded from Hyundai, Essentia marks the first fully electric Genesis model, and what an excellent one it is.

The GT-inspired concept is full of carbon fibre, from the body panels to the monocoque structure and chassis. The fully electric car is supported by multiple motors and can complete a 0-97 km/h acceleration in less than 3 seconds. The cabin has a minimalist style but is filled with understated luxury. Multiple screens dominate the dashboard, while the car is equipped with systems such as face recognition and fingerprint sensors for opening and locking the doors. The AI on board helps choose routes based on driver’s inclination.

It is still early days for the automaker and we don’t yet know if Essentia will morph into a production model, but some of the features will surely be found on production models in the near future.
